Two ships in same bottle. The Christian Radich has excellent rigging and 4 life boats from davits. The Gorch Fock had railing both bow and stern.
Christian Radish - The Pride of Norway
This training ship was built at the Framnæs Mekaniske Verksted in Sandefjord, Norway for the Oslo Sail Training Ship Society in 1937, launched on February 5, 1937. During World War II in 1940 seized by the Germans and used as a depot ship for crew of submarines, in 1945 she was hit by allied planes during an attack on Flensburg in Germany and sunk in the habour. Restored and re-rigged at a cost of 70,000 pounds until 1947 at her building shipyard in Norway, re-started her career as a training vessel. This ship became famous as an adventure ship in 1956-57 because of the Cinerama film "Windjammer" and later as one of the stars in the TV series "The Onedin Line". general overhaul in 1980-83 at the Framnæs Mekaniske Verksted. Named for Christian Radich, an officer, managing director, and ship owner (1822-1889) from Kristiania (Oslo), who donated the money to build a ship.
Gorch Foch - Built by Blohm & Voss, Hamburg (804) Operated by the German Navy for cadet training Gorch Foch II is a three masted bark, 293' long, and is the replacement for the original Gorch Foch (now the Ukrainian Tovarishch). She was built in 1958 and serves as a school ship of the German Navy.
