This is a very special pond model. It was built by a Dr. Chace in South Freeport, Maine. He was a good friend of L.L. Bean, and they sailed it together many times. I have this documented by the prior owner who puchased it directly from Dr. Chace. (Documentation letter goes with the model) Note the name "Babe" on the transom. Babe was L.L. Bean's monicor. The hull and keel have been repainted, but the deck was left original. The standing rigging is original, but the middle spreader has been replaced (well done tho). The model has its original "Fisher" turnbuckles on the port and starboard sides, but the turnbuckles on the bow and stern are newer. Note the unusual hand crafted tiller. There is a rubber band type arrangement that attaches to the base of the mast to keep the tiller in place when sailing. Note also all the original brass fittings on the deck.
Size: 60" long, 7"beam and stand 90" tall from the base of the cradle to the tip of the mast.
