Pond Model circa 1890- 1900 Probably a Class A Enlish pond model. This is a simply faabulous large pond model. Hull, mast, boom, sails etc. are all original. As are most, but not all, pond models, this model is rigged so that it can be easily transported (or shipped) Note the hooks and "bowsers" that are used instead of turnbuckles on the sanding rigging. Also note the original "Braine" steering system.
The mast is a four spreader rig, unusual for its day, and seldom used in pond models. The detail is so very perfect. Note all the original brass fittings on the deck. Note also the "crackling" in the varnish, more proff of its age.
size: 82" from end of boom to tip of bow sprit, 11 1/2 beam, 100: tall from bottom of cradle to tip of mast.
