This is a very accurate and detailed model of the passenger ship "Hamburg-Harwich Prinz Hamlet Hamburg." The ship is built up in many layers inside the bottle. The hull is dark green on the bottle and white over the remaining area. On the bow of the ship is the name "Prinz Hamlet" and on the stern "Prinz Hamlet Hamburg." Midway on the hull are the words "Hamburg-Harwich." There are several deck areas all painted white with many port holes, windows, and doors. Around each deck is white railing. On the bow is a wench with anchor chain. A small flag flies on a pole. On the stern is a German flag and other deck features. 6 lifeboats hang from davits wind ship. There is a large yellow with black top steam stack on the upper deck and a large "P" painted in black. There is a large radar and antenna tower with 3 flags flying, including a Swiss and English flag. In the choppy water is a buoy with a "94" painted on it - the year this model was made. There is also a very detailed large red and white stripped lighthouse. The bottle is sealed with a cork and red sealing wax and rests on a simple wooden stand. Written on the inside of the cork is the following: "Joh. Lonz, 5.94 Neuwied." The following information was provided by Herbert Lonz, son of the craftsman of this model. "This model was made by Johann Wilhelm Lonz, who died in November 2003. He was 88 years old at the time of death. He learned this art working with his father on a Rhine ship, and was a seaman and also a ship captain on the rivers in Germany, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Belgium and France. Everything to do with ships became his hobby. He modeled ships and built radio-remote controlled ships. He sold many of his scaled ship models to other people. Each model is unique a required many hours and days of manual work to build. He built his ships in bottles during the last 30 - 40 years." He also made models #307, 311, and 312.
