Extremely rare model of an ice boat. This model was built by William Hitchcock, one of the best model makers in about 1940. Mr, Hitchcock died about 8 years ago, and his models are much sought after. It is inside a glass case with a mahogany base. The boat is mounted on a black to depict the famous "black ice" The runners are metal.
The model must be done after an early boat, as it is gaff rigged, and a front steerer. Based on the size of the model and the size of the person in the cockpit, the actual boat must have been very large.
Size: Case - 25 3/4" wide X 17 3/4" deep X 18 3/4" high Boat: 18" long and the runner board is 13 1/2" wide.
